fahrenheit 911 on TV

Peter Bradshaw, in his entertaining review of 'Team America' in the Guardian last week, declared himself "a huge fan" of Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 911', and described his frustration - which I share - with "those grumpy and defensive pundits, writing their squirrelly little Hutton reports into it".

For anyone daft or apathetic enough not to have already seen it, it gets its terrestrial debut on Channel 4 on Thursday 27th January at 9pm. Annoyingly they're showing it in widescreen, but that aside it's essential viewing.

'Annoyingly they're showing it in widescreen'Shame on you. Come the revolution, all panners and scanners will be shot.

If you could see the size of my telly! It's miniscule. I rented out 'Master and Commander' at the weekend and the widescreen effect was so great that it was like watching a film through a letter box. The ship, barracked by the waves but resisting their mighty power, looked identical in size to one which I (was quite pleased to ) find in a recent Kinder egg. Home Cinema, this is not.

I thought I would just point out that I was the 6000th 'hit' to the Assistant website today (admittedly by entering as 5999, exiting and going in again). Quite a milestone I think. Do I win a prize? A signed guitar or rare lyrics scribbled on the back of a beer mat perhaps?

Anyway I suspect most of the 'Hits' are down to this Blog, so well done!

That is a significant milestone, yes. You may pick your prize from the following:

a) Name a Pavement song of your choice and we will change the words, swap a couple of the chords around and call it a new song, entitled 'Wow, six thousand'.

b) Claim a set-list of your choice at the next gig (provided you're quick enough to grab one) and we'll happily autograph it for you.

c) Get a free pair of Pete's glasses! (conditional on Pete agreeing to this)

If it helps, you are also the 17,843rd person to visit Assistant blog, which means if you have the patience to click refresh 2,157 times you will be number 20,000 on this blog - another considerable achievement on your part, I think.

You can't have any of my glasses, but you can have a personalised plectrum.

(s)he wants your glasses!
