new order back

I've been really loving those two Gwen Stefani New Order rip offs I downloaded last week - the Jacques Lu Cont remix of her 'What You Waiting For?' and her own 'The Real Thing' from her new album. They're both great. So I'm pleased to see that New Order's own record is out shortly (well, March28). Sadly, it looks like Gillian Gilbert is gone for good, meaning New Order are now a boys-only band, but the new material is supposed to draw heavily on their dancier side, which can only be good news. The album is called 'Waiting for the Sirens Call', and there's some more information here.

You realise 'The Real Thing' actually *is* a collaboration with New Order and thus not a rip-off? :o

Just thought I'd point it out just in case you didn't realise...

Ah, well, I know that they play on it, but it's still a rip off. The story is that she invited them to write a song for her but they said no, so she decided to write the song herself in as close an approximation of their style as she could manage. In the end, when they heard the track, they agreed to play on it. But it was very much written as a 'rip off', assuming you don't understand that term to imply something negative, which I certainly don't.

I stand corrected. You heard the rest of the album? It's patchy, but some good tracks on it...
