I just completed the questionairre at Who Should I Vote For, and came up with the not altogether surprising conclusion that I no longer fit the bill of a natural Labour voter (or at least, not a natural New Labour voter), although I think a few big questions (like support of the war or of house arrest) inevitably weighed the results away from our beloved party of government.
So here's how I stand:

i didnt do the test but i'll be voiting liberal democrat too.
Seeing as this is turning into a bit of a declaration of our voting intentions, I'll be voting Green, if anyone cares.
Lib Dem for me too, although it'll probably mean the tories getting in, the fuckers.

Hello everyone. What a Liberal Bunch we are. It told me Lib Dem too, by quite a way. Not sure what I should have said to say I want to vote Green though. I am intending to. Perhaps we could cause an upset down here? I think it will be important to have some Green voices in Parliament this time.
To BB, people are desserting Labour not because they do not realise certain advances in the economy or social affairs. It's down principly to Iraq (which Labour never mentions). Its because this country was knowingly mis led by its government which made a bad call and then lived the lie. That and that they are sick with the middle mangement touchy feely gloss of the New Labour project and the Blairite way of admitting 'we have lots still to do' and 'yeah no one is perfect'.
I did'nt vote for them in 97 or 2001 so I'm not a bitter Old Labour bloke who feels he was taken for a ride. They have successes which I feel it is fair to recognise but it is time for change. A Liberal administration with a Green pressence will be a breath of fresh air for this country. People must now make that step without fear of a Tory back door win. And yes its official the Tories will never, ever be cool.
I think pretty much everyone accepts now that no one under the age of 25 is going to vote Labour.

Is it sensible for politicians to persue 'cool' as a unique selling point. Today's cool certainly becomes old hat. New Lab courting the Oasis vote might have seemed like a good idea then but it looks about as with it as a kipper tie these days.
Being yourself is probably a wise strategy for a politician.
It's not that the Tories will never, ever, be cool, it's just that the Tories will never, ever, be elected again. Vic
